- ➤ Fairlawn VFW Post 349 unveiled a tribute honoring Akron native Harry Donovan—who at age 17 steered Gen. MacArthur to Leyte during World War II—in a ceremony in October attended by local officials. The post now displays an 18-inch replica Higgins boat on a polished mahogany base in Fairlawn City Hall as a reminder of his service and ongoing support for veterans. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Veterans Day 2025 will be on Nov. 11 and cities across Northeast Ohio will honor veterans with parades, ceremonies, and special events. In Akron, veterans will be invited to enjoy a free self-guided tour of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens starting at 10 a.m., and other communities will host events from church services to parades—each designed to honor local service. - ➤ A local ministry is collecting winter clothing—donations will soon be available at several drop-off points to help residents prepare for the coming cold weather. Cleveland 19 News

- ➤ Akron native Dan Auerbach, frontman of The Black Keys, earned his fifth Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical—a nod to his influential career from his Akron beginnings.
