- ➤ Kisling, Nestico & Redick will give away 1,000 free turkeys today starting at 11 a.m. at its office in Fairlawn if people bring a canned good or a gently used coat, with donations going to Volunteers of America and the Akron Regional Foodbank — marking its 13th annual Thanksgiving event — that supports local families during tough times. - ➤ Santa Claus will arrive at Summit Mall in Fairlawn on Friday, Nov. 14 and greet children daily through Christmas Eve—reservations are suggested and a special pet photo session will be held on Nov. 23. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Pure Ohio Wellness opened its Tallmadge cannabis dispensary at 594 South Ave on Oct 31—marking the first day of state-licensed marijuana sales in the city while featuring Snoop Dogg's Death Row Records Cannabis brand and increasing foot traffic as it continues to hire budtenders. - ➤ Kid Chauffeur Express offers rides for children ages 4—17 in Akron and Canton and owner Sierra Young said her business will expand to Cleveland in the near future—15 drivers already serve over 100 local children with set weekly schedules and one-off routes. Cleveland.com
- ➤ Beacon Journal reporters tested Aldi’s $40 Thanksgiving meal bundle and found it can feed 10 people with 21 items that make 11 dishes—turkey, sides, and dessert are included and extra pantry items were used to complete the recipes. The meal deal is available for in-store pick up or delivery through Christmas Eve and may require minor adjustments to suit personal tastes. Akron Beacon Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dreams Academy, a private Akron school for boys in kindergarten to second grade, was named a finalist for the national Yass Prize — its founder Brandon R. Scarborough presented the innovative model on November 6 in Florida. The school opened in August at 940 Florida Ave in West Akron with 27 students enrolled and may use the $1 million prize to expand its model to other cities. Akron Beacon Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The FAA ordered a 10% cut in flights at 40 airports — but Akron-Canton was exempt, so most flights have run normally despite one cancellation on Nov. 9 and some delays on Nov. 10. Travelers are advised to check their flight status — and not to arrive more than two hours early for domestic departures. Akron Beacon Journal
