  • Thanksgiving Day shoppers in Akron will find that some grocery stores will open on Nov. 27 with Acme Fresh Market operating from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Giant Eagle from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Meijer from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Whole Foods from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. — while chains like Aldi, Costco, Marc's, Sam's Club and Walmart will remain closed.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • Former musical theater performer Rachel Balko has opened Constance Fromagerie & Café in Pilgrim Square as she shifts from teaching voice to running a charcuterie business. The café—featuring a unique cheese bar and fresh grab‐and‐go options—serves customers from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Cleveland.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 45th annual Akron Christmas Arts & Crafts show will be held Dec. 5-7 at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall on the University of Akron campus—110 professional artists and craftspeople will offer original art, fine crafts, holiday music, gourmet treats, and free parking in the E.J. Thomas Parking Deck.  Cleveland.com
  • America 250-Ohio launched the new Ohio Innovation Trail on November 18 to showcase about 80 sites that celebrate the state’s inventive past, including the Akron History Center and museums in Canton. The driving trail features 16 Northeast Ohio locations (such as the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Hoover Historical Center) and will be part of the America 250 celebration planned for 2026.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • The Akron Zoo will open its 10th Wild Lights event — a holiday show with over one million lights and themed areas featuring Santa, the Grinch, and a friendly elf until Dec. 23. The event is set for Nov. 28-30, Dec. 5-7, Dec. 12-14, Dec. 17-23, Dec. 26, and Dec. 28-30 and offers special tours like Zoothing Wild Lights and the Santa Express Tour to give guests different experiences.  WKYC
  • On Nov. 13, 2025, Tom Wiolland and volunteer Phil Schuchter of the building and grounds commission inspected the 1886 bell and clock mechanisms at St. Vincent’s Church at 164 W. Market St in Akron — the clocks will be replaced with new works and clock faces.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Jo White runs a home-based child care center in East Akron where children enjoy circle time, walks, and hands-on learning. The city’s Unified Early Learning System—designed to ease paperwork—lets providers like White focus on quality teaching and care.  Signal Akron

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT plans to reopen the State Route 82 bridge linking Sagamore Hills and Brecksville in mid-to-late December. The 95-year-old bridge closed on October 14 after an inspection revealed structural safety concerns and crews have been working on repairs.  Cleveland 19 News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Coco Bella’s Italian Grille in Northfield Center serves authentic Italian food in a small, cozy space with only seven tables, and reservations are recommended. Chef Tom Berna moved the restaurant from Brecksville in 2021 and now offers a menu of appetizers, pastas, and classic dishes + a warm dining experience.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders said his strong mind helped him cope after his home in Granger Township was broken into on November 16th, when $200,000 in property was stolen—he added that he returned to the NFL field on November 19th while police continue to investigate.  Akron Beacon Journal
