- ➤ AAA said nearly 82 million Americans will travel over 50 miles for Thanksgiving with most driving for safety and cost reasons amid potential flight cancellations — the Akron-Canton Airport is set to handle 24 direct flights with TSA on standby. - ➤ Samantha Zaczyk, an optometrist at Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons, supports Senate Bill 36 (Primary Eye Care Modernization Bill) that would let optometrists perform three simple laser treatments and remove small, harmless eyelid bumps without needing a referral to an ophthalmologist. The bill would reduce patient delays and lower costs by extending care already taught in optometry programs, as seen in 24 states. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Andy O'Keefe, a math teacher who previously coached the CVCA girls basketball team to a 137-65 record, makes his debut as the Stow-Munroe Falls girls basketball head coach today — replacing longtime coach Bob Podges. - ➤ Archbishop Hoban and Walsh Jesuit, both with records of 10 to 1, met last Friday in the OHSAA playoff game at Bedford Bearcat Stadium where Walsh Jesuit built a lead of 14 to 7 in the second quarter. - ➤ Highland and Avon are playing in the Division II, Region 6 final at Brunswick High School today for a state final four spot — Avon leads 14—6 in the second quarter. - ➤ Yesterday, Akron-area high school teams competed in OHSAA regional final playoff games as five teams sought to move three wins closer to a state title — matchups in Divisions II, III, and VII highlighted the postseason push, and state semifinal sites will be announced on November 23.
