- ➤ Downtown Akron Partnership will host a Shop Local weekend on November 29 for Small Business Saturday and November 30 for Artists Sunday to support local artists and small businesses—visitors will pick up free Shop Local buttons and share photos and receipts for a chance to win prizes while exploring downtown. - ➤ At its Nov. 18 meeting, the Woodridge Local Schools Board honored Woodridge Elementary students for their improved reading as Principal Beth Harrington said they used new strategies to fight reading challenges—this celebration came as the board also approved a plan for Regency Construction to renovate the high school science hub, with work starting during spring break and finishing by the 2026–27 school year. - ➤ The Public Utilities Commission ordered FirstEnergy on November 19 to lower distribution rates for Ohio Edison customers and to stop compounding late fees on March 19—steps designed to protect customer bills.
