Residents can clear criminal records with free help from the University of Akron law school’s clinics at 150 University Ave (phone 330-972-7751) and other local programs that assist with record sealing and expungement.
The law school’s next clinic is Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.
💼 Business
Two Akron teachers, Dick Sapronetti and Gordon Oster, created a novelty deodorant called Mafia Protection in December 1975 to stop bad smells and sold out quickly.
They later expanded their products with cologne, a board game and jeans while keeping their teaching and house painting jobs.
🎭 Culture
Akron unveiled a new city logo on Dec.
6 in Perkins Square to close its bicentennial celebration and replace the old rubberworker design. The logo—featuring a blimp, great blue heron, buckeye trees, and skyline—reflects community input and was funded with $50,000 from the 2025 budget.
Local authors Tom Allio, David DiDomenico, and Don Ursetti share North Hill memories in the new book The Goomba Chronicles, filled with nostalgic Italian American tales.
They will sign copies today at Dontino’s (555 E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave.) and on Dec. 13 at Jilly’s Music Room (111 N. Main St.).
