  • Kwanzaa is celebrated in Akron with events that began yesterday at the Alpha Phi Alpha Center and continue today at Mount Calvary Baptist Church at 6 p.m., with other gatherings planned at local venues through Jan. 1.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • The newly elected school board members—Nathan Jarosz, Karmaya Kelly, and Phil Montgomery—plan to rebuild trust by improving transparency in Akron Public Schools starting Jan. 12 as they work with returning members to address financial and administrative challenges.  Akron Beacon Journal
