- ➤ Rubber City Rescue moved into a vacant three-story building at 300 Kenmore Blvd, using two floors to care for up to 40 dogs and ease pressure from a full county shelter. The nonprofit rescues stray dogs and depends on volunteers + donations for daily care. Signal Akron
- ➤ Greater Akron nonprofits will host charity events in the coming weeks (pet rescue gala on Feb. 14 at St. George Fellowship Centre, breakfast-themed fundraiser on Feb. 19 at Our Lady of the Cedars, polar bear jump on Feb. 28 at Portage Lakes State Park Beach). Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Akron residents should not put old electronics in their blue cart but instead drop them off at designated locations (such as the Akron Zoo’s Party for the Planet event in April, local retail centers, and recycling programs) to prevent toxic leaks from e-waste.
