COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Akron Urban League president John Williams released the second part of a series on Black–Jewish relations that examines how past economic and social tensions continue to impact local life. The piece calls for renewed dialogue and shared accountability to rebuild community trust in Akron.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • A family on East Lods Street said dangerous trees are a growing safety concern after a storm dropped branches that caused a brief power outage. Cascade Village management and City Hall will check the property and decide if the trees along the power lines should be trimmed later this week.  Cleveland 19 News
  • Staci and Kevin Howley launched the Be Cheechy Foundation in honor of their son George to spread kindness through 2,400 acts so far. Their first fundraiser took place on March 21 at House Three Thirty in Akron, and the nonprofit aims to expand its movement nationwide.  Akron Beacon Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wu-Tang Clan and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony will perform at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls on Sept. 9 as part of their 2026 tour. Tickets go on sale to the public starting at 10 a.m. on March 27.  WKYC

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices rose to about $3.95 per gallon, squeezing local delivery drivers and small businesses. Business owners say rising pump costs may soon force up delivery fees even as they work to keep prices steady today (AAA noted a 24-cent jump from last week).  Cleveland 19 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials unveiled a master plan for transforming the Innerbelt with new sidewalks, bike lanes, and affordable housing projects, and set aside $500,000 for initial work this year. Mayor Malik said the plan will boost local transit and economic growth (some residents want faster action).  Signal Akron

HEALTH NEWS

  • On March 17, Cancer Support Community, with support from Tommy Tutone, adopted the famous number 867-5309 (CSC-867-5309) to connect callers with cancer support services. Previously used by a West Akron family, the free helpline is confidential and available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Akron Beacon Journal
