- ➤ In celebration of National Foster Care Month, one Wadsworth mom—Kathleen Paydo—has cared for over 200 children over 35 years with Summit County Children Services and now shares advice for new foster families. - ➤ Goodyear Heights Metro Park’s main entrance (2077 Newton St.) will be closed from June 1 through Sept. 30 as the parking lot is resurfaced and curbs are replaced due to aging wear, so visitors must use alternate entrances to access the park. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Akron Public Schools will lose $44M over five years because House Bill 96 uses outdated 2022 cost estimates, forcing the district to use cash reserves even after passing a levy. Treasurer Steve Thompson said the district might face state financial oversight by 2027 and could need further cuts or a new levy—factors that may also affect plans for a new Kenmore school—adding pressure on school finances.
