- ➤ Three Goodyear blimps—Wingfoot One, Wingfoot Two, and Wingfoot Three—will fly over downtown Akron on June 3 for the mayor’s State of the City address at Lock 3 and the RubberDucks game at Canal Park as part of the company’s 100th anniversary celebration. - ➤ Police responded to a shooting at Akron I Promise School after a 17-year-old was allegedly shot on Saturday just before 3:30 p.m.—witnesses transported the victim to a hospital while officers recovered nearly two dozen shell casings, and the investigation remains ongoing. FOX 8

- ➤ Mary Outley, an Akron native and longtime educator, was named superintendent of Akron Public Schools on April 28 — a role that comes with a three-year contract at $240,000 a year. - ➤ Akron leaders announced that the Gorge Dam removal project will let the Cuyahoga River flow freely over the next five years.
