- ➤ Akron’s Innerbelt project was first planned to remake an old highway but shifted after community meetings and federal funding input. City officials and design experts said the new plan—focusing on neighborhood investments, affordable housing and better connections—involves 55 projects that will help repair the harm done by the road and benefit local residents.
