Good morning, Akron.

Debbie Miller of Firestone Park has collected 1 million pieces of trash in her daily cleanup mission to keep Akron safe and clean (she began after her dog was injured by broken glass) and now she plans to collect 2 million pieces in one year.

She has shared safety tips like using cut-resistant gloves, a bucket, and a trash grabber to encourage local residents to join her efforts.

Ar'mon Covington, 26, lost his life when he intervened at a BP gas station on Grant Street on July 5 to stop a man from harassing women — the suspect shot him multiple times before fleeing southbound, and police asked for help in identifying the shooter.

Ohio House lawmakers will meet on July 21 to consider overriding three property-tax vetoes by Gov. DeWine that removed changes from the state budget.

They aim to secure tax cuts by January—overriding a veto requires 60% support in both chambers, and any successful override would take effect 90 days later.
