  • Local chefs and Beacon Journal staff tested Lawson’s Chip Dip with four other dips and found it hard to tell them apart—one chef said its texture left a taste that stayed on the tongue. More than a dozen Circle K stores in Akron will become MAPCO after the FTC allowed a GetGo deal that required selling 34 stores.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Akron Soul Train is hosting an art show today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at 191 S. Main St—artist Amber Bishop displays her memory garden installation with audio and video art while emerging artist Katie Shae debuts 'Tragic Miracle' that explores loss and human bonds.   • Today, EarthQuaker’s Eve kicks off at Musica at 7 p.m.—with live music by Haren and Thorla, Death by Drowning and Astarosta with Lisa Bella Donna. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Akron officials announced that the city will notify about 6,600 water customers after two routine sampling sites showed slightly higher levels of Haloacetic Acids than EPA standards—officials confirmed that the water remains safe to drink and that treatment adjustments are planned with retesting in October.   WKYC
  • Morgan Miller, a former Richfield police officer, filed a federal lawsuit in Akron and claims the village wrongly put her on unpaid leave after she told her supervisors about her pregnancy and medical limits in January — she seeks damages for back pay and emotional distress after her requests for work changes were denied. The suit alleges that officials violated the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and anti-discrimination laws by not allowing her to perform administrative tasks under her restrictions.  Cleveland.com

  • Akron officials today sent a message to about 6,600 households (out of 85,000 served) advising that tests show high levels of haloacetic acids in the drinking water; however, they report there is no health risk to customers.  iHeartMedia
