About this event
Being Strong Doesn't Always Mean Handling It Yourself
November 20th, 2026
Brothers,
Most of us were taught that being strong means handling it ourselves. We keep our heads down, carry the load, and don’t let anyone see us struggle. That works for a while, until it doesn’t.
On Friday, November 20th, at Holy Spirit Parish , Fr. Ryan Furlong will take that idea on directly. Fr. Furlong is Chaplain at Walsh University and Sacramental Minister at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Canton. His talk, “What Makes a Man Strong?” , makes the case that real strength looks different from what the world sells us. It means depending on God, being humble enough to ask forgiveness, and letting other men walk beside you.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a night with other men, with a meal, prayer, and a talk that will stay with you on the drive home. All men of the diocese are welcome, young and old. Walsh students, you have a seat at this table too.
Here’s the challenge: don’t come alone. Think of one man who needs this night (your son, your neighbor, the guy you keep meaning to call) and bring him with you.
