If you've wondered what's next for the old Fire Station No. 12 on West Market Street in Wallhaven, Akron City Council this week approved its sale to Jeter Capital Investments. Lana and Brendan Jeter will turn it into the Wallhaven Hop Shop, and the city says the redevelopment will preserve the firehouse character.
The first phase is a bakery and café with Slavic and Eastern European baked goods, coffee, espresso, tea and light fare. Later plans include coworking areas, a taproom and live events. The station was decommissioned in 2024, and the project is expected to bring up to $1 million in private investment.
